On Wednesday October 25th, 2017 the City of Langley along with Langley Main Street Association held a public meeting to continue the discussion over the redesign of First Street. Over 70 residents attended and participated in the discussion.
Ross Chapin, a local architect offered his expertise in creating a sketch of First Street that incorporated many of the public comments from last year’s September 21, 2016 design meeting. The overall design he presented was well received. One of the larger additions would be the creation of a plaza at the intersection of First and Anthes. Many residents expressed approval of the plaza improvements. Other design elements included wider sidewalks, raised crosswalks, movable outdoor seating, rain gardens and a potential art wall at Robert L. Smith park.
The next steps will require the City to continue the design process. Additional designs will be available to the public for comment when ready.
