The next “First Wednesday meeting on Langley’s comprehensive plan will be held on October 7, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
The past few weeks have been especially busy for planning staff and members of the Planning Advisory Board as they dealt with the future of size of the Urban growth Area (UGA). Recently, city staff held a meeting with Island County Planning officials where they have agreed to reduce the size of the UGA to city limits with the exception of three parcels with sewer easements. Further discussions included coordination between county and city staff regarding the development within the former UGA in case future expansion should prove necessary. With this issue now in conclusion Langley’s Planning staff and the PAB can finalize the land-use element in the Comprehensive Plan update during the next work session.
Additionally, in the coming weeks staff and the PAB will begin discussions regarding the Utilities element. As you may recall, the city engineer held a presentation regarding the updated sewer plan for the city. This plan will be discussed further in the coming weeks for its inclusion in the comprehensive plan update.
It is imperative for the success of this Comp Plan update to include the voices of the city of Langley. As always your comments are encouraged either at our work sessions and/or regular meetings. If you are unable to attend please leave your feedback here and it will be forwarded to the appropriate staff. The PAB’s next work session will be Wednesday October 7th at 3 PM in the council chambers of City Hall.
We hope to see you there!
