We are in the final month of the project with completion expected during the second week of June. Only a few small areas of sidewalk remain to be poured at the east and west ends of the project along with the crosswalks at the Anthes and Cascade Intersections. The rain garden plants have arrived on site and will be installed next week. The remaining landscaping with begin to be installed by our Main Street Association volunteers around June 6th. Most of the pavers have been laid out in the plaza area and it’s beginning to take shape:
The intersection at Cascade and Second Street will be closed starting on Monday May 16th to install the crosswalks, but will be back open for Memorial Day weekend. The post office entrance from Second Street will also reopen at that time. The concrete street section will be scored over the next few weeks using a saw to cut the concrete in a rectilinear pattern. Circular paver bands will be installed around the circular patterns in the plaza pavers and will occur over the next two to three weeks. The work will require extensive cutting of the pavers and will generate noise impacts during the process. The asphalt paving of the remaining street sections will begin on June 2nd. Final finish work will include the installation of the seatwall wood tops, the seatwall lighting system, the pathway markers and parking wayfinding signs.
