Second Street Project Construction Update #1

The Second Street Project is off to a successful start.  The contractor, SRV Construction, has completed the demolition on the north side of the street and is proceeding with installing underground utilities including the stormwater system followed by the water main and services.  We will contact businesses/residents directly before water services are switched over to the new main in order to provide information on any service interruptions, which we expect will be minimal.  A temporary sidewalk consisting of crushed stone will be installed along the north side of the street before the demolition begins on the south side of the street, which will not begin for approximately 3 weeks.  Additional signage will be installed shortly identify public parking areas in the downtown including Third Street and at the Methodist Church (all days except Sundays).  The contractor will be working Monday through Thursday starting next week and are only working Friday this week because of the holiday on Monday.  We are encouraging business owners and employees to park at one of the church parking lots (Island or Methodist Church) to free up prime parking downtown for customers.

Our weekly construction meetings occur each Wednesday and will be followed up with a construction update to the public.  If anyone has questions or concerns please contact Jeff Arango at jarango@langlewa.org, in the office at 360.221.4246 x26, via mobile at 206.456.6208 or use the form below.
